We are pleased to announce a newly created role: Claims Lead. This leadership role is critical in managing the claims against and for the City in a fair and equitable manner while supporting the City of Edmonton's commitment to public safety and well-being.

As a Claims Lead, you will lead a team of claims adjusters and specialists who handle various claims, from liability for damages and personal injury to those involving City assets. You will provide strategic guidance on claims management best practices, ensuring seamless coordination across City departments and external stakeholders. Your leadership will be crucial in driving continuous improvement, achieving performance targets, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment

What Will You Do?

• Lead and mentor a team of claims adjuster professionals by fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes quality claims handling, efficiency and employee engagement
• Responsible for resource planning, service delivery, performance metrics and vendor management
• Contribute to the development and implementation of claims management strategies, policies, and procedures
• Provide ongoing succession planning, training and development opportunities for your team to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge
• Oversee claims handling quality assurance and regulatory compliance through regular file reviews and performance assessments, to identify trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement, process optimization and technology enhancements
• Provide input to claims trend reporting and recommended mitigation actions to inform prevention measures across the City   
• Provide expert advice and guidance to City departments on and claims-related matters
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal teams, business areas across the City, insurance broker's claims advocacy team, external vendors and government agencies for continuous improvement, proactive issue resolution and compliance
• Other related duties as required
