We are seeking students enrolled in a co-op (or internship) degree program, in various majors and specializations, available for 4 or 8 month terms starting September 2026

Note: Only students in work experience programs will be considered.

What will you do?
As a self-motivated and valued member of the team, you'll do exciting, challenging work on various projects and initiatives across the City's departments and branches. You'll learn about public service and build your professional network by working closely with other professionals at the City of Edmonton. 

Roles are based in various locations across Edmonton, Alberta, and responsibilities will depend on your team. Please review the Hiring Teams Description document for further information.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a co-op (or internship) degree program from a post-secondary institution
  • Enrolled within the following areas of study or a related program:
    • Business
    • Computer Science
    • Environmental Sciences
    • Humanities and Social Sciences
    • Information Technology and Data (Mathematics, Statistics)
    • Public Administration
    • Urban Planning

Assets:

  • Experience with related computer software applications (e.g. Google Workspace Applications, Adobe Reader).
  • Experience conducting research using various methodologies and quantitative and qualitative analysis of information.

Skills required for success:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative member of a team
  • Committed to building and maintaining relationships with internal and external parties
  • Ability to accurately analyze information
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Effective organizational and time management skills

PLEASE NOTE:

  • There may be additional requirements and related costs depending on the business area including:
    • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a City Driver's permit
    • Security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
    • Standard First Aid Certification and CPR Level C
    • Driving may be required for City business

Work Environment:

  • Position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance

Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 33.75 hours per week or 40 hours per week depending on the business area

Salary: 33.75 hours per week: $25.667 - $29.944 (Hourly); 40 hours per week: $24.255 - $28.296 (Hourly)
