Description

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking an experienced highly motivated individual to fill the challenging position of CPIC Unit Supervisor. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective, 24‑hour delivery of CPIC services that support frontline police operations and partner agencies. We are seeking a highly capable and motivated leader to supervise a large team responsible for high volume, time sensitive data entry, warrant processing, and communication of information through specialized police databases. This position performs supervisory work and independent specialized assignments that require strong confidentiality, judgment, initiative, and organizational skills.  We are looking for someone that is comfortable making decisions, thrives in a structured environment, and enjoys leading and developing others. This person should be able to build strong working relationships and contribute to positive team culture.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the CPIC Unit, ensuring consistent, high‑quality 24‑hour service delivery.
  • Supervise and support Team Leaders and a large group of CPIC Operators, including scheduling, assigning work, coaching, performance evaluations, constructive feedback that supports employee growth. and attendance management.
  • Ensures unit objectives and goals are implemented and remain aligned with the EPS, Branch and Division strategic priorities as set out by the management team.
  • Supervise and mentor CPIC employees through interpreting regulations, problem solving, and maintain composure when handling difficult situations, to ensure professionalism and quality customer service.
  • Perform workflow and process reviews to create clarity and efficiencies to ensure CPIC functions are maintained to National CPIC standards and ensure high accuracy in a high – pressure environment. 
  • Provide leadership through fair, consistent and clear communication. 
  • Participate in the review and development of unit policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines and ensure training programs, reference materials, manuals, and operational protocols for the Unit are maintained.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and fairly with support and clarity. 
  • Strong verbal and written professional communication skills with an aptitude to explain and create documents that support understanding of complex procedures. 
  • Create, maintain and report on Unit performance measures to the Branch's leadership team. 
  • Maintain staffing levels through participation in hiring processes and complete operational evaluations to support adequate coverage for continuous service delivery. 
  • Perform other related duties.
