If so, the City of Edmonton is looking for a collaborative and enthusiastic Economic Development Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the advancement of strategic initiatives and the implementation of the Economic Action Plan, a 10-year strategy focused on growing the economy in Edmonton.
As an Economic Development Analyst, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the performance management framework for the Economic Action Plan. This involves tracking progress, analyzing economic indicators, and providing valuable insights to stakeholders, including City Council. You will also support the implementation of the plan and will work collaboratively with internal and external partners. This role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical, communication, and project management skills, capable of navigating complex projects and contributing to the City's economic success.
What will you do?
- Maintain the methodology for the Economic Action Plan performance measurement framework
- Regularly update the Economic Action Plan dashboard
- Support the Economic Action Plan annual report with research, economic stories and related information
- Research and identification of relevant economic metrics and indicators that support the City's priority of inclusive economic development
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to validate metrics and indicators
- Build a network of individuals who will inform or be informed by the economic metrics and indicators
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide support to tactical actions that support the Economic Action Plan's outcomes
- Prepare regular reports on section priorities for audiences including City Council, Executive Leadership Team and external stakeholders
- Incorporate equity and sustainability principles into work
- Engagement in a variety of complex and sometimes sensitive projects, using advanced levels of judgment, initiative, and creativity to complete the work
- Apply the local economy lens to a variety of corporate programs and initiatives
- Support the execution of new corporate initiatives by developing project documents and engaging relevant stakeholders
- Research and writing reports, briefing materials and business cases on industry, economic and environmental issues, and emerging opportunities
- Identify reliable, accessible sources of information to ensure a consistent source of data for decision-making, including repositories of information that support program and client service delivery
- Support strategic planning and policy development within the section by applying lessons learned from research
- Connect with colleagues across the corporation to share data and identify new sources of information
- Ensure a GBA lens is applied to all section strategy, policy, and research activities
- Act as a Local Economy & Investment Services section conduit to ongoing or emerging projects from across the corporation
