We are looking for a Survey Technical Assistant I to join our Lifecycle Management team. The Survey Technical Assistant I will be responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing survey data for open space infrastructure assets. This position will work closely with other members of the Lifecycle Management team to ensure that renewal programs meet legislative and policy requirements. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of survey principles and techniques, as well as experience with GPS and GIS software applications. This position requires a high level of accuracy and precision, as the data collected will be used to make decisions about capital renewal planning.
What will you do?
- Collect location, attribution, and condition data on City of Edmonton open spaces assets using GPS/GNSS/GIS technology.
- Identify, categorize, and measure the extent and severity of distresses observed, in accordance with established standards.
- Take pictures of the City of Edmonton assets and link them to assets by using GPS coordinates.
- On a daily basis, ensure all material is restocked and monitor/maintain all field equipment.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Report on productivity accomplishments.
- Perform a variety of physical duties as required.
- Post-process digital and manual survey/assessment data for use in Corporate GIS system application.
- Perform basic technical calculations involving survey/assessment data.
- Create and update supporting documentation.
- Assist Engineering Technologists with more complex data processing activities as required.
- Perform preliminary QA/QC protocols, interpret results, and provide corrective actions where required.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and meets quality standards.
- Collaborate with business areas to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
