Description

Are you a strategic thinker who thrives on connecting data trends to real-world community solutions? The City of Edmonton is looking for an analytical and collaborative professional to join our Coordinated Construction Accountability Team (CCAT).

In this role, you will bridge the gap between data intelligence and community awareness regarding infill development and construction practices. You will champion the monitoring of tracking dashboards, triage complex inquiries across multi-disciplinary teams, and assist in crafting strategies that promote positive social norms and enhanced customer experiences. This position is central to strengthening construction site accountability while navigating socially and politically sensitive urban planning topics.

What will you do?

  • Monitor, track, and analyze internal and external construction site safety data dashboards to identify and report on trends
  • Create comprehensive monthly reports and present strategic findings to team leadership and planning partners
  • Manage the centralized complaints tracking program, identifying systemic efficiencies and operational shortfalls
  • Evaluate, mediate, and triage incoming inquiries and time-sensitive customer complaints to the correct compliance teams across the city
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally and work alongside communication teams to ensure public messaging aligns with corporate standards
  • Assist in drafting strategic reports for administration and City Council regarding legislative amendments and emerging public issues
  • Lead and control small-scale projects and operational process improvements from conception to predictable milestone delivery
  • Participate in public engagement events and partner with community organizations to improve awareness of safe construction practices
Qualifications

  • University degree in business administration, public administration, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience combining strategic and operational business planning, corporate performance measures, and budget tracking

Assets:

  • Experience working within an inter-governmental or municipal environment alongside government officials
  • Background in construction monitoring, safety codes, or urban planning frameworks

Skills required for success:

  • Advanced data analytics capabilities to transform intelligence into actionable corporate decision-making tools
  • Program and project management proficiency, with a track record of mapping milestones and driving small projects to completion
  • Skilled in ticketing system programs, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, and databases like Posse
  • Strong mediation and conflict management skills to navigate highly charged, time-sensitive inquiries effectively
  • High political acumen and independent judgment to balance public expectations with regulatory jurisdictions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required to draft technical briefs for leadership and clear messages for engagement participants
  • Systems-thinking approach that successfully integrates various corporate programs with differing internal perspectives
  • Agility to manage competing, high-priority tasks simultaneously within a fast-paced team environment

Conditions of Employment:

  • Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel-toe boots, gloves, goggles, sunscreen and coveralls
  • Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) or higher. Candidates will be required to arrange their own transportation and, where appropriate, will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the candidate to obtain business-use auto insurance
  • Applicants may be tested

Work Environment:

  • Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance
  • This role works in both indoor and outdoor settings
  • Exposure to environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, inclement weather, dust, noise, light variation, vibrations, chemicals, and exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards may occur
  • This role requires completion of repetitive and strenuous tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, reaching, or lifting items up to 10 lbs requiring physical stamina and resilience
  • This is a public-facing role and requires engagement and interaction with diverse people from various backgrounds with different needs, expectations and emotional states

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours weekly

Salary Range: $43.573 - $54.439 (Hourly); $76,764.73 - $95,907.91 (Annually)
