If so, then we encourage you to apply for the ISA Certified Arborist position within our Infrastructure Operations team! As an ISA Certified Arborist, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the urban forest by pruning, planting, and caring for trees. You will also have the opportunity to train and mentor other staff, ensuring that our team is equipped with the latest knowledge and techniques in arboriculture. 

The ISA Certified Arborist is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the care and maintenance of trees in the City of Edmonton. This includes pruning, planting, and removing trees, as well as performing structural risk assessments and identifying tree pests and diseases. The ISA Certified Arborist will also be responsible for training and mentoring other staff. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of arboriculture and a commitment to safety. They will also be able to work independently and as part of a team.

What will you do?

  • Prune trees of all sizes, both at ground level and using aerial lift units
  • Maintain tree health by removing dead or diseased wood and treating pests and diseases
  • Plant and remove trees, ensuring proper techniques are used to minimize risk and maximize tree health
  • Perform structural risk assessments and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate hazards
  • Train and mentor other staff on arboriculture best practices
  • Respond to public inquiries and concerns regarding trees
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and tree inventories
  • Install cable and bracing systems in trees
