
Description
The Pest Management Operations section is hiring Labourer II's to complete tasks in the following areas: Landscape, Biting Fly, Outdoor Rodent and Structural Pest. These positions operate various pieces of equipment involved in pesticide/insecticide application, including backpack sprayers.
What will you do?
- Working alongside a Pest Control Operator for the application of pesticides, monitoring and other control measures for insect pests (mosquitoes, caterpillars, aphids, sawflies, leaf miners, wasps, hornets, bees and ants that have become a nuisance, etc), for small mammal pests (beaver, ground squirrel, gopher, bats, etc) and structural pests (mice, silverfish, birds, cockroaches)
- Pre and post-treatment inspections to determine areas to be treated and effectiveness of the applications
- Perform minor maintenance and calibration on equipment used
- Record daily chemical summaries of materials used, areas treated and pests controlled
- Responsible for checking requests for service and complaints from the public
- Perform related administrative tasks and duties as required, such as completing time sheets, journals, etc.
- Conducting job duties in a safe manner in compliance with City and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Legislation regulations, codes, policies and competency training
- Perform other duties as required
