Description

The City of Edmonton is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Labourer II/Parks Leader Licensed within our Parks department. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the beauty and maintenance of our city's green spaces. As a Labourer II/Parks Leader Licensed, you will play a key role in ensuring the health and vitality of our parks, playing fields, and other green spaces. 

In the summer, you will lead and supervise a team responsible for the delivery of the vegetative management program. This includes tasks such as pesticide application, plant identification, and maintenance of park areas. In the winter, you will transition to a Labourer II role, focusing on snow removal, park furniture repair, and outdoor ice maintenance. This dynamic position requires a combination of leadership skills, hands-on expertise, and a passion for maintaining our city's natural environment.

What will you do?

  • Supervise and lead a team of seasonal staff in the delivery of the vegetative management program during the summer months
  • Operate a variety of equipment and vehicles for tasks such as pesticide application, snow removal, and park maintenance
  • Perform hands-on tasks related to park maintenance, including plant identification, pruning, and repair of park furniture
  • Ensure the safety of your team and the public by following all City of Edmonton safety protocols and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with the public, addressing concerns and providing information related to the vegetative management program
