The City of Edmonton is looking for a dynamic and community-focused individual to join our team as a Neighbourhood Resource Coordinator. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in strengthening social capital by building capacity across our diverse network of neighbourhoods and districts. You will act as a crucial link between residents, community groups, City Administration, and City Councillors, addressing local opportunities and issues, and fostering a collaborative environment. As a Neighbourhood Resource Coordinator, you will be at the heart of community development in Edmonton. Your primary focus will be on strengthening social capital across the city's neighbourhoods and districts through capacity building. You will be assigned neighbourhoods within the City's identified districts to monitor and address emerging local opportunities and issues, serving as a key liaison, asset-based community development leader/organizer, and neighbourhood content expert for residents, City Administration and City Councillors. This role involves connecting neighbourhood groups with City departments and services, helping residents contribute to a shared vision for their neighbourhood, and supporting community-led projects. Additionally, you will play a vital role in stewarding parkland and public spaces, promoting social connection and enhancing the overall well-being of our communities. 

What will you do?

  • Facilitate strategic planning initiatives that empower citizen-led projects and address local needs
  • Identify community needs, capacities, assets, and support local leadership development
  • Build and nurture partnerships between community organizations, City departments, and other interested parties
  • Support and partner with community interested parties to achieve mutually agreed upon outcomes
  • Facilitation happens through partnerships that are strategically developed with community groups
  • Continuously anticipate, analyze, and respond to arising community challenges and opportunities
  • Support community groups and partners to remain involved, mobilized, energized, and responsive
  • Research, pilot, and implement innovative approaches to create streamlined & high quality services
  • Use diverse engagement methods to ensure fairness and gather opinions from various groups
  • Champion social inclusion and create opportunities for all residents to actively participate in community life
  • Provide resource information including grant programs, funding opportunities, and program support for community ideas, projects, and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
