Description

The City of Edmonton's Parks and Roads Services branch is looking for a dedicated Permit Clerk II to join our Regulated Road Use team. In this vital role, you will be at the heart of our city's movement, ensuring that construction, maintenance, and special events happen safely and efficiently. You will act as a key point of contact for contractors and community partners, helping to coordinate the 24,000 annual permits that keep our network running. As a Permit Clerk II, you are responsible for the administration and processing of a wide variety of temporary road use permits, including OSCAM, Truck Route, and Special Event permits. You will work within the Technical and Regulatory Services section to prioritize applications received via web and phone, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with city bylaws. This role requires close coordination with technical staff and subject matter experts to identify work restrictions and coordinate emergency service responses. You will also manage the financial side of permit issuance by creating Plant Maintenance Orders in SAP to track work and process fees. With high work volumes during peak construction and winter seasons, your ability to stay organized, be detail orientated, and adapt to changing priorities is essential. Ultimately, your work ensures that on-street activities are well-coordinated and that our collaborators receive timely, professional service.

What will you do?

  • Working in fast paced environment, you will audit and input OSCAM permit applications through web applications and POSSE, ensuring that customer, location, and accounting information is precise
  • Review permit locations to identify potential conflicts with other road work or Truck Route permits to maintain a smooth flow of traffic
  • Collaborate with Traffic Technicians to establish work restrictions and finalize approved permits for issuance to customers
  • Facilitate extensions and amendments to existing permits and coordinate responses for Emergency Services as requested by the Police and Fire departments
  • Manage Truck Route and TRAVIS moving permits by auditing applications and ensuring they align with Provincial permit systems
  • Identify overweight and over-dimensional moves that require special support and work with internal and external escorts to schedule these moves through the city
  • Create, amend, and close out SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) Orders and Notifications to ensure all work is financially tracked and billed correctly
  • Respond to general inquiries from the public and community partners regarding temporary road use and provide historical records for legal claims when necessary
