Do you have the theoretical knowledge and communication skills to safely coach, correct and develop the physical health of others?
The Community Recreation and Culture Branch is looking for trainers that are personable, confident, knowledgeable and have a positive and supportive attitude. We are seeking Personal Trainers that have a passion for providing members an amazing experience at the Recreation Centres across the City to lead personal training and/or group fitness programs. If you are a fully qualified trainer and want to share your passion for health and fitness with City of Edmonton patrons, then this is the position for you!
As a Personal Trainer, you will use your knowledge of human anatomy and exercise principles to:
- Provide 60 minute private (1 on 1) personal training sessions
- Provide 60-minute semi-private training sessions (2-4 individuals)
- Lead Fitness Fundamentals programs for adults and Youth In Action programs for youth 12-15
- Determine clients' exercise needs through consultation with clients and assessments
- Develop, document and implement individualized exercise plans based on client's goals, abilities and specific needs
- Educate and coach clients on how to exercise safely and effectively while providing encouragement and motivation
- Monitor, track and assess client progress and adapt programs as needed
- Demonstrate safety in all aspects of planning and delivery of programs, with an emphasis on preventing and managing injuries
- Contact clients within 48 hours of being assigned and build a positive and professional relationship
- Track and redeem personal training sessions
- Submit timesheets
- Perform other duties as required
As a Group Fitness Trainer, you will use your fitness knowledge, coaching and motivational skills to:
- Plan and instruct exceptional Group Fitness classes for up to 20 participants that are safe and effective, providing coaching, feedback, modifications, cueing and encouragement
- Provide group-training style GRIT, H.I.I.T. and LIFT classes in our Training Studios that are progressive, challenging and can adapt to the diverse needs of participants
- Develop class plans that follow the outline and meet the goals of the class-specific formats
- Create an inclusive, high energy, positive and motivating environment
- Responsible for managing the Training Studio set up before, during and after classes
- Contribute to the City's Group Fitness Community by communicating in a positive, productive and professional manner
- Substitute classes at various City of Edmonton facilities (classes currently offered at Kinsmen, Terwillegar and The Meadows)Maintain all mandatory education certifications and attend professional development workshops as needed
- Record class statistics and relay information/feedback about classes to Group Fitness Coordinators
- Understand, and follow all policies, procedures, and standards
- Perform other duties as required
