Description

The Building Great Neighbourhoods Branch and the Neighbourhood Renewal Program are the building blocks of a great city, and invest in reconstructing neighbourhoods to enhance their livability and longevity. As a Project Coordinator in the Building Great Neighbourhoods Branch, you will be responsible for the planning and design of neighbourhood transportation projects through the development of concept and preliminary designs. Our team's projects include planning and design for roads, alleys and active transportation projects, as well as low impact development and open space enhancements. 

In this role you will apply your project management skills and technical knowledge to an exciting program of mature residential neighbourhoods projects that directly enhance the lives of Edmontonians. You will collaborate with various internal stakeholders and external consultants to deliver innovative solutions to projects of variable complexity. Throughout the development of your own projects and the support you provide to others, your success will be measured by your ability to achieve timely results in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded way.

What will you do?: 

  • Coordinate and support the development phase (planning and design) of renewal, reconstruction, replacement or new construction of infrastructure related to transportation and livability in neighbourhoods
  • Perform a variety of contract management related duties including review of consultant proposals, participation in negotiation meetings, tracking change orders and budgets and completing performance reviews in collaboration with project team members
  • Support the preparation of project estimates and schedules, monitor budget, schedule and scope, and make recommendations for changes based on achievement of project outcomes
  • Prepare and update project documents following the City's project management framework including: completion of project lessons learned, updates to the project risk register, stakeholder register and issue/decision log
  • Participate in the development, evaluation and recommendation of design options for effective and long-term solutions
  • Liaise with business partners and engage the public and stakeholders throughout the project
  • Lead and/or support projects with public engagement plans and activities in accordance with the Branch public engagement charter
  • Apply City of Edmonton Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines to each project with support from the Branch Safety Officer
  • Foster an inclusive culture of collaboration amongst project teams, across the corporation and beyond
  • Perform other related duties as required
