The City of Edmonton's Reuse Centre, Waste Services Branch is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Reuse Education Specialist to join our Business Integration and Technical Services section. This role is vital to launching upcoming outreach campaigns and expanding our educational partnerships. What will you do?
- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging environmental education, waste reduction, and reuse-focused programs, workshops, and tours to diverse audiences, including school-aged children, businesses, ESL students, and seniors
- Create, update, and complement teaching materials, interactive displays, and educational resources, that align with current environmental best practices
- Collaborate closely with community partners and external agencies to assess specific demographic needs and identify educational gaps
- Promote the Reuse Centre and Waste branch at public outreach booths
- Manage program bookings, draft trend summaries, develop evaluation surveys, and analyze audience data to recommend continuous programming improvements
- Support the Program Lead with training, and supervising temporary staff, program supports, and volunteers
- Act as a representative on waste reduction grant committees and liaise with grant applicants
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation/Leisure, or a related discipline, with training in program development
- Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in the development and delivery of education programs, specifically including environmental education
- Valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED certification

- Ability to present and adapt materials and delivery style for a wide variety of audiences
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to supervise staff and/or volunteers
- Experience developing targeted marketing or outreach content via print, web, and social media channels
- Top-tier written and verbal communication, public presentation, and customer service skills
- Highly flexible and able to adjust delivery styles or rapidly respond to changing situation, events or project priorities
- Proficiency in Google Apps, web conferencing tools, learning management systems, and event registration software
- Exceptional conflict resolution, teamwork, and independent prioritization skills

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

Work Environment:
- Shifts may occasionally include split shifts, evenings, or weekend hours depending on programming bookings
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
