Description

Join the Urban Planning and Economy Department to play a vital role in advancing the City of Edmonton's climate goals. This position is dedicated to building critical relationships, securing funding, and driving advocacy efforts essential for climate resilience and energy transition

Reporting to the Director of Environment and Climate Resilience, Community Activation, the Senior Advisor will develop and execute three key deliverables:

  • Climate Alternative Funding Strategy,
  • Climate Relationship and Partnership Strategy, and
  • Climate Advocacy Strategy.

This is a strategic role requiring a deep understanding of climate action and the ability to convene and broker collaborations with diverse groups to achieve City priorities.

What will you do?

  • Develop and execute a leading-practice relationship and partnership strategy to advance the City's climate goals in an integrated and innovative way
  • Develop and execute an alternative climate funding strategy, identifying and cultivating diverse short-term and long-term funding sources for corporate use, including preparing funding applications
  • Assess the City's current climate advocacy needs and develop and execute an advocacy strategy with clear actions and resources to drive City climate goals
  • Foster authentic and mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships with key community partners, industry associations, Indigenous governments, and other interested parties to support the City's climate initiatives
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management on strategy execution and impactful relationships needed to achieve City priorities
