Description

Reporting to the Director of Neighbourhoods Planning and Design in the Building Great Neighbourhoods Branch, the Supervisor of Neighbourhoods Design is ready to manage the design aspects of infrastructure reconstruction and rehabilitation within the City of Edmonton's mature neighbourhoods, as part of the Neighbourhood Renewal Program.

The Neighbourhood Renewal Program is a building block of a great city, and the investment in reconstructing neighbourhoods enhances their livability and longevity. The mandate of the Program is to provide a fully integrated and holistic approach to planning, designing and delivery of roads, drainage, street lighting, open spaces, and any other neighbourhood amenities.

What will you do?

  • Manage, review, approve, and align design deliverables with City policies, design and construction standards and best practices, safety requirements, and environmental policies
  • Provide technical support to design staff to enable them in making responsible, timely, and professional decisions
  • Ensure deliverables are appropriately coordinated with internal staff, external partners, and the public
  • Develop and implement a workforce strategy aligned with maximizing value and efficiency of a core internal design group
  • Effectively manage plans, budgets, and resources to effectively utilize skills and resources to meet internal client and public expectations
  • Provide ongoing communication on the progress of projects
  • Align the team's resources to maximize skills and internal assets to support projects and meet client expectations
  • Manage, mentor and coach staff to foster a high performance environment
  • Respond to Councillor and Public inquiries
  • Participate in partner management and public engagement activities including as a spokesperson on behalf of the City when required
