We're looking for an enthusiastic Supervisor, Site Coordination and Operations to join our team at the Lewis Farms Community Recreation Centre! Reporting to the Director of Recreation and Culture Community Hubs, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring our facility is a safe, welcoming, and exciting hub for all community members.

You'll lead and mentor a diverse team of approximately 100 staff, from Facility Leads, Facility Crew Leads, to Lifeguards, ensuring top-notch service and operational excellence. Beyond daily site coordination, you'll be instrumental in strategic planning, emergency preparedness, budget management and fostering a positive environment that enriches lives through recreation. What will you do?

  • Provide leadership and management for site coordination and operations of a Community Recreation Centre, overseeing approximately 100 diverse operational staff
  • Determine staffing requirements, manage staff changes, foster a culture of learning and innovation, and encourage staff development and empowerment
  • Define clear expectations, provide quarterly feedback, approve performance evaluations, and participate in staff recognition
  • Integrate various plans, coordinate facility planning processes, and ensure ongoing communication strategies for improved service delivery
  • Collaborate in the planning and implementation of Branch and Section business plans for recreation facilities
  • Prepare and implement 4-year operating budgets, complete monthly budget variance reporting, and manage capital profiles and business cases
  • Evaluate and review policies and procedures to provide consistent strategic direction
  • Handle all aspects of recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining talent, including labor relations, disciplinary matters, and attendance management
  • Foster a culture of health, wellness, and safety, ensure facilities meet current safety standards, and coordinate environmental practices and energy efficiency initiatives
  • Manage and lead advisory/engagement committees, develop and monitor service agreements, and facilitate partnerships with various internal and external groups
  • Participate in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans, lead and track the Occupational Health and Safety program, and coordinate safety inspections and emergency safety drills
  • Build strong relationships with the neighboring Indigenous community and support partners and community groups in collaboration with other city branches
