These green assets are a cherished legacy central to the well-being of our community. We are seeking a Leader to help us preserve, maintain, and grow this magnificent Municipal Forest for generations to come.

As the Inventory and Assessment Leader, you will oversee the comprehensive inventory and condition assessment of all open space and boulevard trees. You will serve as the primary technical expert for urban forest data, collaborating with internal teams to ensure data integrity and accessibility. Beyond the data, you are a mentor, coaching a team of Landscape Technicians to maintain high standards of quality and safety. Your work directly enhances public safety and the beauty of our city for all residents.

What will you do?

  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for staff, including permanent and seasonal team members
  • Develop and execute the annual work plan for tree inventory updates and city-wide assessments
  • Establish and enforce rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards for all field data collection
  • Conduct expert-level analysis of tree data to identify trends, risks, and failure susceptibility
  • Prepare data-driven technical inputs for multi-million dollar capital budget proposals for asset renewal
  • Develop and deliver specialized technical training on geospatial equipment, software, and arboricultural protocols
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical inquiries related to tree data from internal collaborators and the community
  • Manage the ongoing accuracy and migration of the municipal tree inventory database and related GIS layers
