This posting is for one (1) Temporary position that may be extended up to 18 months

The Crime Analysis and Intelligence Section of the Edmonton Police Service has an opportunity for a highly organized and competent individual to provide assistance with the collection, review, approval and dissemination of intelligence related products and reports, along with managing and maintaining databases within the EPS.  The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Collect, review, and collate police occurrence reports in addition to other information and intelligence documents. 
  • Collect, collate, interpret, create, and distribute documents/reports including target sheets, bulletins and other intelligence products as required
  • Manage intelligence database(s), by reviewing and assessing information prior to uploading the information from internal and external sources.
  • Provide updates as required on identified offenders by tracking offender data and crime types including identification of modus operandi.
  • Provide support to the analytical process through tasked based queries, reading reports and product creation. 
  • Run specialized reports from a variety of systems and provide outputs at scheduled intervals. 
  • Scan criminal events and crime trends to identify persons of interest and make recommendations for follow-up.
  • Respond to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders within identified timelines while following set business rules in place.
  • Applying appropriate information classifications to information shared and received.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
     
Qualifications

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade, including business subjects related to word and information processing and training in microcomputer applications or completion of an approved certificate program. A minimum of  three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory and diversified word and/or information processing experience.
  • Criminal Intelligence Analysis Certificate would be an asset.
  • Understanding of the intelligence cycle and how information is classified and flows through the process. 
  • Display objective decision-making skills with critical analysis and evaluation skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook. 
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Record Management System, CPIC, JOIN, ORCA and other related databases.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to enter data with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision as part of a team.


Hours of Work: 40.00 hours per week, 10 hour shifts Mon – Thurs & Tues – Fri Alternating Weeks. 
 

Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 013, $28.64 - $35.92 (Hourly), $2,291.80 - $2,873.80 (Bi-Weekly), $59,814.94 - $75,005.14 (Annually).
