The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires one (1) positive individual to support the Supply Logistics Section of the Procurement, Contracts & Supply Logistics Branch, under the direction of the Manager, Supply Chain & Warehouse Operations. The position is responsible for ensuring the efficient, secure, and timely movement of mail, packages, and materials across all EPS locations, supporting operational and administrative functions. This position also assists all areas under the Supply Logistics Section, including supply chain, warehouse operations, and related functions.

The successful candidate must have excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, time management, multitasking skills, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and Google Workspace apps. The ability to execute oral and written instructions is a requirement of this position. Strong research and analytical skills are considered an asset.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Directs the receipt, screening, processing, and distribution of all inbound mail and materials, ensuring appropriate security and handling protocols are followed.
  • Oversee the preparation and coordination of outbound shipments, including packaging, documentation, tracking, customs requirements, and specialized handling such as dangerous goods.
  • Leads internal courier operations, including the transportation of mail and materials between EPS locations and operational areas.
  • Coordinates the internal routing, pickup, and delivery of packages, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Supports the distribution of uniforms, equipment, and materials through internal systems, including order management and smart locker solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve and integrate internal logistics processes, including coordination with other operational workflows.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers, including postal and courier vendors, ensuring service levels, performance expectations, and contractual obligations are met.
  • Monitors and manages budgets, invoices, and costs associated with mail and courier services, ensuring accuracy and fiscal responsibility.
  • Collaborates with City of Edmonton partners and external agencies to support mail forwarding, interoffice delivery, and interagency material movement
  • Conducts regular reviews of processes to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and advice to management and stakeholders on logistics, mail, and courier practices and requirements.
Qualifications

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic computer applications.
  • A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
  • Experience with SAP and CPIC would be an asset.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro. 
  • Experience with Canada Post EST program would be an asset.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting and moving boxes weighing up to twenty (20) kilograms.
  • Strong research and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to execute oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information in various formats. 
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta's Driver's license and able to provide own transportation.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day. Hours vary from 0630hrs to 1600hrs Monday to Friday

Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 013, $28.64 - $35.92 (Hourly), $2,291.80 - $2,873.80 (Bi-Weekly), $59,814.94-75,005.14 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
