Job Summary
The Data Analyst reports to the Executive Director of Institutional Research and is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and transforming data from various sources that will support sound decisions within the College community. This includes but is not limited to completing data reporting requirements and providing data and analysis support for the DOL Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs Grant, using internal and external data sources to fulfill ad hoc data requests; setting up surveys in an online survey platform; reviewing institutional data tables for accuracy and consistency; assisting IR staff in maintenance of online data dashboards and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Social Sciences, Statistics, or Management Information Systems OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years of related professional experience.
- Experience writing SQL queries.
- Experience with Data Visualization/Business Intelligence platforms such as Tableau PowerBI.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
- 1 year in experience in data management/analysis environment or Higher Education administration.
- Experience with Survey Administration platforms such as Qualtrics or Survey Monkey.
- Experience with Peoplesoft SIS.
- Knowledge of using Python for Data analysis.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to independently prioritize, plan and organize projects, tasks, and activities.
- Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications that are tailored to the intended audience.
- Ability to collect and organize data from a variety of sources, including but not limited to institutional student information systems, external data sources such as the US Census Bureau, Nevada Department of Education, etc.
- Knowledge of descriptive statistical concepts such as measures of central tendency, standard deviation, and cross tabulations and when they should be applied.
- Ability to create data tables and visualizations that can communicate findings clearly to users of varying technical expertise.
- Ability to make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
- Skill in using a variety of statistical and database management tools.
- Familiarity with the operation of a public institution of higher education..
Salary Information
Administrative Faculty C– The starting salary is $59,186*
*This position is funded by grant dollars and is contingent upon ongoing and available funding through September 30, 2028.
