POSITION SUMMARY

  • Nursing Assistants perform delegated duties of direct care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or License Practical Nurse. Nursing Assistant must continually strive to provide the highest possible level of care for the patients. High quality care and overall efficiency are essential components towards the achievement of the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. Upon completion of Nursing Assistant training program and placement on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant registery per terms of the Program, employee will be re-classfied as Registered Nursing Assistant-Hospital. 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience:
    • Must complete the Nursing Assistant course and pass the written and skills competency exams within 180 days of hire.  Successful completion of this course is a requirement of continued employment. Failure to do so will result in end of employment.
  • License/Certificates:
    • Achieve placement on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Special Skills and Aptitudes:
    • Previous hospital experience or completion of an approved nursing assistant training program required.
    • Basic understanding of the usual methods used in providing personal care for patients required.
    • Capable of following and carrying out verbal and written instructions.
    • Effective interpersonal relation skills, observation and reporting skills.
    • Knowledge of applied science principles in situations involving procedures, hygienic and safety measures.
    • Ability to properly operate all equipment required for this position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Exercise concern for patient's welfare above all else.
    2. Assist the nurses in providing the nursing care and services to the patient.
    3. Assist in the care of a patient unit.
    4. Provide appropriate care for patients who will be undergoing or are recovering from orthopedic surgery.
    5. Assist in dietary needs by delivering patient meals, feeding, or assisting patients with meals, collecting trays after meals.
    6. Understand and correctly operates and cares for equipment when directed to do so.
    7. Run errands, stock supplies, perform cleaning assignments as required.
    8. Demonstrate resourcefulness in emergency situations. 
    9. Provide patients with comfort care.
    10. Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.

     

    The pay range for this role is $18.18 to $23.75.
