POSITION SUMMARY
Teach a broad range of medical office professions courses including diagnostic and procedure coding, health insurance claims processing, medical transcription, medical office administration, and medical office accounting. Develop new courses, modify/update existing courses, and assist with curriculum development and assessment. Teach evening and/or off-campus center classes to students with diverse academic backgrounds in multicultural settings. Participation in division and college governance and demonstration of ongoing educational and professional growth are required.

  • Teach at least 30 equated credit hours annually in a variety of settings including day, evening, weekend, on campus, and off campus.
  • Commit to ongoing educational and professional growth.
  • Engage fully in course, discipline, program development, curriculum development and assessment.
  • Attend and participate in discipline, division, and college meetings.
  • Possess minimum technology skills and use of a course management system.
  • Bachelor's degree in health information technology or related field
  • Medical office experience
  • Proficiency in using medical office software
  • Demonstrated currency at a significant professional level
  • Minimum of (2) years of related work experience
  • An ability to teach in a variety of formats, including on-line
  • Curriculum and/or course development experience
  • Master's degree in related field (must be completed before eligible for tenure)
  • Demonstrated communication and project management skills
  • Substantial multicultural experience (for example: urban community service, academic course work in minority or foreign language studies, or teaching experience with minority students)
  • Applicable industry certifications and memberships
