The Highlights: Reporting to the Director, the position is responsible for the management of the student leadership positions for new student programs. The coordinator will manage planning and logistics associated with the hiring, training, and ongoing development of orientation leaders and Chicago Quarter Mentors (serving DePaul's first year seminar). The coordinator will jointly supervise 150+ student leaders. This role will provide programmatic support for orientation and the Chicago Quarter program as well.
What You'll Do:
- PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: Responsible for day-to-day management of components of the Premiere DePaul and Transition DePaul new student orientation programs and the Chicago Quarter program (first year seminar).
- STUDENT LEADER RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION: Coordinates logistics for annual Chicago Quarter Mentor and Orientation Leader recruitment (150+ positions), group interview, and selection processes including marketing/publicity, communication with candidates, space requests, and collaboration with university departments and offices.
- STUDENT SUPERVISION: Provide supervision, feedback and coaching for student leaders throughout employment with NSFE.
- PROGRAM OPERATIONS: Coordinates logistics associated with program planning including student leader trainings, room reservations, program materials design, and supplies inventory.
- Jointly supervises up to 150 student leaders.
- Assist with management of annual program budget of approximately $900,000.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education/College Student Personnel/Counseling or related field preferred
- 1-2 years of professional experience in higher education
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in orientation, new student programs or student activities preferred
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and effectively work on a team
- Ability to communicate effectively with others and foster professional relationships within a complex environment of diverse students, staff, and faculty
- Must also possess a strong commitment to student development in higher education at an urban, Catholic University
- Knowledge of college student development theories
- Program planning and strategic planning skills
- Public speaking and group facilitation experience
- Appreciation for and commitment to multiculturalism and diversity issues
- Some evening and weekend work required.
