The Highlights: Reporting to the Director of Digital Experience & Analysis (DXA), the UI/UX Designer plays a pivotal role in advancing the DePaul brand by leading the design of digital interfaces and user experiences for the university's online properties. This role focuses on ensuring brand consistency and creating engaging, user-centered digital interactions across DePaul's websites and advertising landing pages. As a subject matter expert, the UI/UX Designer contributes innovative solutions to the Branding and Marketing team, fostering excellence in digital experience design.
What You'll Do:
- 1. Create UI/UX Deliverables
o Assist with the launch of the new DePaul.edu and related college websites, applying a new design system in collaboration with our agency partner. This role requires a seasoned designer to take ownership of advancing and scaling the system as we migrate approximately 100 remaining sites.
o Translate creative concepts and stakeholder needs into functional specifications, interaction models, task flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished visual designs.
o Apply a mobile-first, user-centered design methodology to create UI deliverables ready for integration into the overall design system.
o Leverage research, testing, and data analysis to inform and refine design solutions.
o Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results. - Collaboration & Communication
o Partner with content creators and authors to develop visually compelling and interactive designs.
o Collaborate closely with front-end and back-end developers to ensure alignment and seamless implementation throughout the design process.
o Present design concepts and rationale, incorporating UX/UI best practices, to project teams, stakeholders, and leadership. - Design System & Standards
o Define and implement design guidelines and best practices across DePaul's digital ecosystem in coordination with the Creative Services director.
o Develop and maintain a library of brand-aligned design assets and components for depaul.edu and other digital platforms. - Research & Trend Analysis
o Stay current with advancements in web design, UX methodologies, usability standards, and U.S. Section 508 compliance.
o Conduct regular competitive analyses of digital properties in the higher education sector to inform design strategies. - Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, UX Design or HCI (Human Computer Interaction) required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years interactive design experience
- Fluency in all major graphic and UX design programs including Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
- Substantial knowledge and experience of interactive design production process and methods
- Deep knowledge of UX industry standards, including knowledge of U.S. Section 508 compliance
