**Job Summary:**

Performs in the Operating Room under the direct supervision of the OR, RN, CN, completing assigned tasks in a competent, complete, and timely manner with concern for patients' well being and the Perioperative area schedule.

**Job Functions:**

Prepares patient for surgery by performing surgical hair removal per policy, using aseptic technique.

B. Assists in room as needed during patient transfer, skin preparation, and positioning.

C. Demonstrates proper technique in scrubbing, gowning, and gloving when needed as a retractor/camera holder.

D. Transports patients safely to and from departments as assigned.

E. Assists in the maintenance of appropriate documentation and record-keeping processes by printing out nursing forms and reports as needed.

F. Displays proficient use of Meditech and Intranet databases in performance of job functions; orders and obtains results of labs and other tests if needed.

G. Restocks and maintains supplies throughout department.

H. Notifies OR, RN, CN, of incomplete work assignments; completes assignments left from previous shifts.

I. Expedites room turnover following department standards.

J. Participates in terminal room cleaning.

K. Takes call as assigned and per departmental policy.

L. Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.

M. Complies with all infection control policies and procedures.

N. Attends 75% of all departmental staff meetings.

O. Participates in hospital competencies yearly. P. Respects at all times the confidentiality of patients, fellow employees, hospital and physician related information.

Q. Uses care around patients, both anesthetized and awake, in what is said and done.

R. Is available at all times to OR Charge RN.

S. Assists in whatever duties are assigned to them to ensure a 20-minute turnover time for large cases and a 10-15 minute turnover for all other cases.

T. Provides for comfort needs of patients.

U. Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees

V. Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and co-workers.

W. Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and attractive appearance and performing duties in a competent, caring, and respectful manner.

X. Maintains a good working relationship with fellow employees and related personnel through appropriate communication.

Y. Accepts reassignment or other duties as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.

Z. Maintains a professional relationship with all patient care personnel and other departments requiring frequent interaction and coordination of efforts. Always promotes good public relations for the hospital and the department.
