POSITION SUMMARY

* While this position is remote, we are currently looking for candidates located in these states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.*

The position provides guidance to the Clinical Department. Responsibilities for this key position will support consistent, safe, and effective nursing practice in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards. The position will advise by supporting the aspects and principles of a person-centered approach to care delivery with guidance through leadership, education, quality improvement and risk management. The position directly reports to the Management Company Divisional Vice President of Resident Care.

General

  • Facilitates the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department and provides analytical data on key performance metrics.
  • Performs proficiently in all nursing competency areas in assisted living and memory care setting, within scope of practice, including but not limited to direct resident care, family support, resident rights, and safety.
  • Identify high-risk resident concerns and appropriate responsive measures.
  • Provides education and training to Resident Care Specialist and Directors of Health and Wellness under the direction and collaboration with the Divisional VP/Director of Resident Care and the National Director of Clinical Education.
  • Knowledge and support of policies and practices developed by the company.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of systems across departments by way of formal and informal on-site visits such as preparatory process reviews, simulated surveys, and virtual interfaces.
  • Ability to complete RN Delegation responsibilities as needed.
  • May provide on-site and virtual support during company acquisitions

Resident Care and Regulatory Compliance

  • Monitors the community practice of resident care policies and procedures, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards at the community level.
  • Knowledge of new or changing regulatory requirements and implements changes as needed at the community level.
  • Participates in review of incidents, accidents, and clinical risk scenarios at the community level to safeguard residents and mitigate liability and risk.
  • Monitors timely entry of incidents and accidents in software programs and ensures a thorough investigation is completed at the community level.
  • Collaborates with all disciplines to reduce risk.
  • Serves as a champion and key educator for our infection control and prevention program.
  • Guides community team members with the management of infectious illnesses and communicable disease outbreaks.
  • Monitors appropriate notification and involvement of the local and/or state public health departments as required.
  • Monitors adherence of the resident pre-admission assessment process and the clinical denial process.
  • Reviews of prospective and existing residents as needed.
  • Review of potential move-outs as needed.
  • Monitors and evaluates level of care assessments for timely completion, accuracy, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
  • Participates in the interview and selection process for Resident Care Specialist and the Directors of Health and Wellness and other key team members.
  • Assists with the onboarding, orientation, and ongoing development of these positions under the direction and collaboration with the National Director of Clinical Education.
  • Takes initiative in developing nursing leadership skills, clinical skills, and competencies through continuing education and participation in senior living organizations.
  • Completes company required training and education as assigned.
  • Monitors training compliance for the clinical department.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders and other disciplines to develop and monitor staffing and labor budgets, nursing supply budgets, and community occupancy targets.
  • Participates in the annual budget process as assigned.
  • Tracks regulatory outcomes, identifies trends, and provides guidance to community team members in the development of corrective action or performance improvement plans.
  • Collaborates with the legal and compliance departments on regulatory requirements and plans of correction.

Clinical Risk Management, Safety, and Infection Control

  • Conducts routine and episodic quality rounds and compliance audits at communities. Reviews and provides feedback on actions to minimize liability and risks as a result of the compliance visits.
  • Monitors and reviews key performance indicator data to identify quality trends. Develops and implements corrective action plans with the community Director of Health and Wellness, and the Executive Director.
  • Participates in site visits provide supervision, clinical expertise, and enhanced communication.
  • Monitors the overall operation of the resident care department of the community.
  • Performs community reviews in response to operational needs, significant occurrences, and management changes.

Occupancy Development

  • Reviews and investigates resident/family/responsible party complaints as needed.
  • Monitors compliance with resident rights policies and works to resolve grievances as needed.
  • Participates in an interdisciplinary team effort concerning the clinical needs of the communities.

Leadership Development

  • Serves as a champion of company culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides guidance to the community Executive Directors, Administrators, and Directors of Health and Wellness. Supports other team members to assure delivery of consistently high-quality person-centered care to residents. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities with consistent, safe, and effective nursing practice in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse in good standing, licensed by the state
  • Bachelor-level healthcare degree preferred
  • (3 or more) years senior living experience in a leadership role
  • BLS Certification
  • Experience in multi-state and multi-community support
  • Knowledge of clinical practice and operational procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in assisted living and memory care setting.

*If work assignment includes a state or states that require Registered Nurse (RN) delegation then, a Registered Nurse in good standing, licensed by the state is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, speaking the primary language of the residents.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
