Job Details:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for auditing the assigned stores' execution of merchandise pricing policies and procedures on a weekly basis, including determining gaps, training and executing corrective action plans as needed. Provide coaching and recommendations on pricing execution to stores, districts and the corporate office based on weekly store audits and discussions.

 

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform weekly audits of assigned stores to identify opportunities to improve merchandise pricing strategies.
  • Understand, implement and utilize tools to identify potential pricing issues; investigate issues, and resolve promptly and efficiently when applicable
  • Monitor stores' compliance with established pricing policies and procedures through various reporting tools and respond as needed to identify and resolve training gaps, coaching needs and/or corporate processes improvements.
  • Utilize department reports to identify pricing gap trends and react to them appropriately.
  • Analyze pricing opportunities and work with leadership team to improve pricing strategy across all stores to ensure accurate and timely pricing execution
Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret operating statements and identify corrective actions to negative trends, if needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, health regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Knowledge of all local and state requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of personal and network computer systems to communicate with corporate office, to create merchandise signage, to obtain and email data and information, etc.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and standards verbally and in writing to staff, suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to interface with staff, suppliers and customers in a respectful and effective manner.
  • Ability to develop and maintain organization and to attend to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations relating to store operations and business relationships.
  • Effective organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE &/or EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • One year of experience in a retail environment and Dollar General store experience preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching to run check out station and stock merchandise.
  • Some handling of merchandise and equipment such as hand-held scanner, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, rolltainers (four-wheel rolling merchandise carts) and U-boats (six-wheel carts).
  • Some lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds. Occasional climbing using
  • Regularly driving/providing own transportation, attend meetings and travel to Dollar General stores.
  • Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to extreme cold in freezers.
