Hourly Rate: $20.00

Duties & Responsibilities

Early Education

  • Monitors and documents provisions and progressions in the area of Early Childhood Education and School Readiness.
  • Assists with the implementation of a developmentally and linguistically appropriate approach to child development and education.
  • Provides additional center-based and family childcare home support, as assigned.
  • Substitutes for teachers during a temporary absence or long-term as determined by program needs; provide quality childcare to children birth to age 4.
  • Assists with organizing a classroom environment that promotes each child's total development while promoting positive open communication with parents and children.
  • Assists in developing an environment that reflects the home culture of the families being served with the goal of increased understanding of their own culture and the culture of others.

Family Services

  • Coordinates with center staff operations to integrate family partnership goals with classroom efforts and to ensure integrated child and family curriculum.
  • Completes home visits as needed.
  • Responsible for all health-related tracking and follow-up, including but not limited to, physical exams, special health needs, dental exams, dental follow-up, and immunizations.
  • Recruit's prospective families and assists with enrollment process.
  • Completes developmental, speech/language, social emotional, vision, and hearing screenings on each Early Head Start child within 45 days of enrollment.
  • Notifies Health/Disabilities and Supervisor specialist of all special health needs for children and ensure health care plans are placed in child's files.
  • Documents all efforts to assist families, tracks family partnership efforts and outcomes, records, monitor and follows up on referrals, and submits reports as required.


Qualifications

  • Have a CDA credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or, are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire. Have within eighteen months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field. Must acquire CPR/First Aid training for Infant/Child/Adult within ninety (90) days of hire date and maintain through the duration of employment.
  • Previous early childcare experience required.  Two years of experience in social service, case management, or teaching infant/toddler, pre-school or kindergarten. Previous Head Start/Early Head Start experience is preferred.
  • Must meet state criminal background check requirements. Must be available to work a flexible schedule in order to fulfill job functions and program responsibilities. Position is budgeted for 30 hours weekly; additional hours may be approved based on program needs and operating budget.
  • Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver's license. Must be able to travel for training, as required. Travel requirements include local, in/out of state. 
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
