Position Concept

The Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance or Sr. Director of Finance & Contracts or designee in analyzing the financial performance and status of all contracts as it relates to budgets, billings, modifications, monitoring, and forecasting, and recommending strategies and/or process improvements where appropriate. The Financial Analyst works with internal and external staff to provide customer service support and assist in providing requested financial data.   

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The position is responsible for contract budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Assist Director of Finance or Sr. Director of Finance & Contracts with supporting program financial data request.
  • The Financial Analyst analyzes reports as requested, which summarize business and/or provider activities regarding earnings and/or deliverables performance, direct and indirect cost levels, and forecasting financial results.  He/she prepares reports required by internal procedures and reviews financial results for accuracy and clarity within the timeframes scheduled.
  • The Financial Analyst assists in the development of the annual operating budgets for all grants and contracts, and monthly forecasts.
  • Reviews and analyzes various internal and provider reports that may include but not limited to census reports, compliance reports, staffing reports, revenue or expenditure reports, and provides input on variances.
  • Works with internal staff in developing process procedures that document workflows from start to end to verify that revenue streams are maximized.
  • The Financial Analyst also assists with proposals and new business operating budgets and customer forms developed during the bid process.
  • Coordinate and oversee fiscal response to funder monitoring and assist in the annual/quarterly financial monitoring of grants and contracts.
  • Reconcile and close out grants/contracts at termination.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited College or University, in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • Three to five years related experience at a company providing similar products and/or services.
  • Financial management skills, including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting; understand non-profit balance sheets, income statements, and accounts receivable; grant/contract time reporting and payroll. Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and program performance analysis.  
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.  Ability to handle multiple projects and work well under pressure, including working with interruptions and deadlines while producing quality results on schedule with attention to detail.  Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office software.  
  • Experience working with cost reimbursement contracts.  Knowledge and experience of the government contracting process preferred.   Maintain knowledge of current federal issues relating to Grants & Single Audits of state, local, government and non-profit organization; interprets OMB (Office of Management and Budget) circulars for grants and contracts. Superior business acumen and technical knowledge within area of responsibility. 
  • Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Travel to assigned programs as required.
