We are seeking a 1099 hire at the Denison Job Corps Center in Denison, IA. We are looking for a Physician and Physician Assistant for 12 hours a week.   

Hourly Rate: $150.00 to $160.00

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Physician/Physician Assistant reports to the Health and Wellness Director (RN) and is an hourly, non-exempt position. 
  • The Physician/Physician Assistant  provides services that support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the total center wellness program.  
  • The Physician/Physician Assistant complies with Policy and Requirements Handbook, DOL guidelines, contract specifications, policies and Center Operating practices and procedures.
  • Performs definitive medical examination on each student, including interpretation of all routine laboratory tests and necessary radiology reports within the time frame required by PRH.
  • Advises the Health Services Director and Center Director on medical and health related matters.
  • Prioritizes health needs of the center and sets program direction in coordination with the Health Services Director, Center Dentist, CMHC and Center Director.
  • Advises and assists with integration of the Wellness Program into all center components.
  • Assures compliance with infection control procedures and reporting, OSHA requirements.
  • May train students and staff in Bloodborne Pathogens, Standard and Symptomatic Management Guidelines and various wellness/health topics.

Qualifications:  

  • Active, unrestricted license to practice in state where center is located.
  • Primary care physician preferred—family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine.
  • Board certification preferred.
  • Current DEA registration
  • Prefer Job Corps experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Additional Requirements: Strong working knowledge of medical procedures.  Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, Familiarity with medical needs of disadvantaged youth.  Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certificates. Sound management techniques.   Ability to handle multiple priorities.   Ability to communicate effectively and relate to the trainee population. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.
