Job Summary:
Responsible for coordinating the activities of supervisors/managers and personnel engaged in registration, preregistration, precertification, and credit/insurance functions. Plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the Patient Access Services Department. Manage staff for optimum performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees accurate, timely, and courteous patient registration, preregistration, pre-certification, and pre-service clearance.

  • Ensures insurance eligibility verification, authorizations, and Notices of Admission are completed per payer regulations.

  • Manages staffing needs, coverage, scheduling, timekeeping, payroll oversight, and on-call responsibilities.

  • Supervises direct-report staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, coaching, and discipline.

  • Assists department director and management team with daily operations and cross-coverage.

  • Monitors patient satisfaction, identifies improvement opportunities, and implements corrective actions.

  • Oversees work queues related to billing claim holds and prepares POS cash reconciliations.

  • Develops, maintains, and reviews productivity, financial, and administrative reports for leadership.

  • Collaborates with QA, Training, and Patient Access leadership; recommends and enforces policy and procedure updates.

  • Maintains regulatory, insurance, and systems knowledge; manages downtime procedures and attends required meetings and education.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and write in order to review patient registrations and prepare reports reflecting registration activities and deal effectively with various personnel at a level normally acquired through completion of a high school education.
  • Approximately 5 years of PAS experience is necessary in order to gain full knowledge of information required.
  • 3 years prior management experience with subordinates in a healthcare setting.
  • Interpersonal skills in order to effectively lead subordinate work group and interact with all levels of hospital staff, physicians, patients, insurance companies, etc. when dealing with registration and pre authorization processes.
  • Analytical skills in order to resolve difficult registration problems and make recommendations regarding policies and procedures as well as interpret the same.
  • Typing and CRT skills necessary.

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources.
