Job Summary:
Under general supervision provides patient services using imaging modalities. Performs radiographic procedures at a technical level. Responsible for maintaining supply levels.

 Department: Jersey City HOPD 
Location: Jersey City, NJ 
Status: Full-Time 
Shift: Days 
Hours: 8am-4pm

Job Essentials:

At all times, lives the values of the organization in performing each of the following:
1.    Prepares room and equipment for radiologic procedures.
2.    Cleans and disinfects X-ray room and equipment according to protocol
3.    Prepares patient X-ray exams and procedures.
4.    Verifies procedure in Epic & reviews any other special notes or comments.
5.    Explains exams and procedures, positions patient and assists patient at end of procedure.
6.    Ensures that patients are as comfortable as possible during exam.
7.    Processes images and produces copies of images as requested.
8.    Provides appropriate information on images with respects to patient, position, time date, name, uses markers and, as required, by specific procedure.
9.    Prepares trays and contrast media for radiologic procedures using sterile technique when necessary.
10.    Measures patient to assist in selecting desires technique factors.
11.    Maintains technique charts.
12.    Uses immobilization devices, selects MA, time and KV, and provides lead shields, to produce quality radiographs and provide radiation protection.
a.    Uses Imaging Wisely principles
13.    Uses fluoro under the direct supervision of a physician, assists physician during procedures as required.
14.    Maintains the necessary supplies in x-ray rooms.
15.    Position may require to cover multiple offsite locations including the Hospital.
16.    Informs Administrator of any unusual occurrences with respect to equipment. Informs nurse manager of any unusual occurrences with respect to the patient and daily operations.
17.    Observes patient and machine during procedures.
18.    Interacts with the patient and responds to his/her needs within a context which recognizes the growth and development process, or the aging process of that patient.
19.    Provides services to male and female patients of all age groups.
20.    Uses the online Safety Reporting System to report patient safety incidents that occur in the department.
21.    Knowledge of Pacs & Epic 
         a.    Ability to resolve QA, merge exams, move images
         b.    Capable of changing orders, moving appts., adding on cases
         c.    Able to access & interpret Epic OR schedules to determine equipment needed for each case
         d.    Troubleshoots & notifies appropriate supervisor of any issues
22.    Performs other related duties as required.

Education Requirements:

• Satisfactory completion of a two year AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.

License/Certification/Registry:

• BLS
• A minimum of one year experience in diagnostic X-ray.
• Must be New Jersey licensed.
• Must be A.R.R.T. registered

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Potential exposure to ionizing radiation.
• Occasional heavy lifting of patients.
• Walking and standing 90% of the time

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources.
