The Staff Systems Planning Engineer at Enterprise Products is responsible for performing advanced hydraulic modeling and analysis for liquid, gas, and supercritical fluid pipeline systems. Key responsibilities include:
Conduct system capacity evaluations, identify operational bottlenecks, and develop mitigation strategies to optimize throughput.
Model and assess “what‑if” operational scenarios, including equipment outages and system reconfigurations.
Analyze abnormal or upset operating conditions, including transient surge events, ensuring compliance with DOT‑PHMSA regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with Commercial, Capital Projects, Field Engineering, Operations and Concept Development teams to evaluate new project opportunities such as new supply connections, delivery points, system expansions, service changes, and greenfield developments.
Determine required control pressures for liquid pipelines by evaluating elevation profiles, pipe and equipment ratings, and transient surge analysis results.
Partner with Operations and Pipeline Control to develop pipeline configurations that support safe, reliable, and energy‑efficient system operation while meeting design constraints and contractual obligations.
Requirements
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering is required.
Working knowledge of fluid properties and hydraulic theory.
10 years of experience in the energy business working with pipeline simulation is required.
Midstream oil and gas experience preferred.
Advanced knowledge of at least one pipeline simulation software is required. Additional working knowledge of multiple simulation software packages is preferred.
Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management.
Ability to work in a team or individually.
Required to analyze problems, develop effective solutions and see task through to completion.
Ability to handle multiple ongoing assignments.
