About the Assistant Maintenance Manager Position

As an Assistant Maintenance Manager with MPC Bus Corp, you will oversee shop operations while maintaining and repairing transit vehicles. You'll provide leadership, ensure work is completed efficiently, and support mechanics in diagnosing complex repairs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of mechanics to ensure high-quality repairs and maintenance.
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnosing and repairing brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
  • Assigning work, ensuring accurate completion of work orders, and maintaining shop efficiency.
  • Assisting with mobile emergency repairs as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Assistant Maintenance Manager Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance shop.
  • 5 or more years of experience in automotive or diesel maintenance & repair.
  • Valid driver's license required – must be willing to obtain a CDL while employed (training provided!)
  • Must have a personal mechanic's tool set
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program – training, testing, and bonuses provided!
  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason).
