Now Hiring: Payroll Clerk
Location: Springfield, MA
Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday
Pay: $27.50 per hour
First Student is seeking a Payroll Clerk to support our Springfield location. In this role, you'll assist the Contract Manager with day-to-day payroll responsibilities, maintain accurate employee records, and help ensure smooth clerical and accounting operations. This is a great opportunity for someone detail-oriented, organized, and ready to contribute to a mission-driven team.
Key Responsibilities:
Process new hire files and submit completed documentation for approval and regional processing
Calculate and input payroll accurately for drivers and staff
Track attendance for permanent part-time employees and maintain driver seniority records
Assist with benefits enrollment and clerical/accounting support
Monitor and verify overtime and standard hours to support cost management
Answer phones, handle mail, and maintain office supply inventory
Perform additional administrative duties as needed
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience and Skills:
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and 10-key data entry
Self-starter with leadership qualities
Previous payroll or administrative experience preferred
