Job Summary

Architecture & Technology Engineer – Medical & Diagnostics will be based in Milan, Italy and will be responsible for leading system-level architecture definition and technical engagements for complex medical and diagnostic programs, while bringing innovative technologies and cross-domain expertise into client solutions.

What a Typical Day Looks Like:

  • Lead technical workshops and customer-facing discussions with international clients, translating needs into system concepts
  • Define and guide system architectures across feasibility, proof-of-concept, and development phases
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electronics, controls, embedded software, sensors)
  • Build rapid prototypes and technical demos to support validation and client engagement
  • Integrate emerging technologies such as IVD systems, robotics, mechatronics, and embedded AI/ML
  • Translate customer, regulatory, and business requirements into robust system and subsystem specifications
  • Support development in key areas such as motor control, precision motion, thermal management, and sensor integration
  • Contribute to the technology roadmap and innovation direction

The Experience We're Looking to Add to the Team:

  • Mid level experience in system engineering or complex product development in regulated industries
  • Strong background in IVD, surgical systems, or advanced lab equipment
  • Solid expertise in mechatronics, motor control, and sensor systems
  • Broad cross-functional technical exposure across at least two domains (mechanical, electrical, embedded, controls, sensor algorithms)
  • Familiarity with embedded AI / edge technologies is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders (CTO, R&D, VP level)
  • Hands-on, self-driven mindset with the ability to independently develop solutions and prototypes
  • Able to drive progress in situations with incomplete information and undefined system architectures
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Mechatronics, Automation, Physics, or similar
  • Full professional proficiency in English

The starting pay level offered for this position is 65.000 euro, determined in accordance with applicable legal requirements and aligned with the relevant Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL).
The role is classified at Quadro under the Metalmeccanico CCNL, which establishes a guaranteed minimum salary level of 37,000 euro.

A higher pay level is possible, proportional with candidate's experience, within the limits of internal peer pay, to prevent pay inequities.

Internal peers are Flex employees who hold a role of equal value to the advertised one in the same cost location and at the same grade level
