To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add an Associate Operations Supervisor –3rd Shift located in Austin, TX.

Reporting to the manager a potential 3rd Shift SMT Operations Supervisor would be a hands-on manufacturing leader, responsible for delivering overnight schedule attainment, quality performance, downtime response, and full changeover readiness for the next shift.

This role leads line leads, operators, and offline preparation personnel with limited on-shift engineering support. Third shift sets the foundation for the next production day, requiring autonomous decision-making, technical confidence, strong communication, consistent safety leadership, and effective cross-functional partnership.

Shift Time : 11:00 pm – 7:30 am CST(Sun -Thu)

What a typical day looks like:

Production Execution & Results

  • Deliver consistent overnight schedule attainment and stable output performance.
  • Maintain strong quality execution, including First Pass Yield (FPY) control and rapid defect containment.
  • Respond quickly to downtime events using structured troubleshooting and proper escalation.
  • Ensure accurate offline SMT feeder preparation, kitting accuracy, and complete changeover readiness for the next shift.
  • Enforce shift discipline, standards, safety practices, and documentation expectations to maintain operational consistency.

Floor Leadership

  • Lead from the floor, providing real-time guidance and reinforcing expectations.
  • Address performance or behavior issues directly, clearly, and fairly.
  • Establish a respectful, supportive environment that keeps operators aligned and engaged.
  • Model safe behaviors and ensure compliance with all EHS standards.

Quality, Stability & Problem Solving

  • Drive structured problem-solving using symptoms, impact, actions taken, and ownership.
  • Make sound decisions regarding quality or process deviations with limited engineering support.
  • Communicate issues clearly across shifts to ensure continuity and prevent repeat failures.
  • Promote learning from issues and apply improvements to prevent recurrence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with ESC/Maintenance on downtime and equipment recovery.
  • Work with Methods Engineering to ensure accurate setups and process readiness.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering on defect trends, containment, and root cause analysis.
  • Share information openly, escalate proactively, and collaborate without blame.

Pass down Excellence (Key Responsibility)

  • Provide complete, structured, and accurate pass downs at the end of every shift.
  • Document issues, actions taken, risks, next-step owners, and any follow-up needed for day shift.
  • Ensure clarity so the next shift can take immediate, informed action.
  • Proactively communicate critical items verbally when needed to ensure safe and stable startup.

Additional Responsibilities (Corporate Coverage)

  • Plan and follow up on action items, space planning, and workshop participation.
  • Support interviewing, training implementation, and coaching/counseling for improved performance.
  • Engage in staff meetings and internal communications with peers, staff, and partner departments.
  • Safeguard company assets and maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Apply LEAN concepts where possible to improve flow and reduce waste.
  • Direct daily department activities to meet production goals.
  • Review material, equipment, and manpower resource requirements; support maintenance programs for critical equipment.
  • Generate productivity reports and other operations metrics.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 3+ years in operations or manufacturing leadership.
  • Experience supervising teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills and visible floor leadership.
  • Demonstrated ownership of production outcomes.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and EHS compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct SMT manufacturing experience (screen printing, pick & place, reflow, AOI).
  • Experience with offline feeder preparation and changeover readiness.
  • Familiarity with key metrics: schedule attainment, FPY, defect rates, downtime.
  • Exposure to Lean or continuous improvement environments.

  • Strong quality performance and controlled defect trends.
  • Repeat downtime is reduced through structured escalation.
  • Lines are fully prepped for the next shift.
  • The shift operates with high discipline, urgency, accountability, and safety compliance.
  • Passdowns are clear, actionable, complete, and support effective day‑shift follow‑up.
