Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Tooling Engineer's role involves:
What a typical day looks like:
Plan, coordinate, and supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for injection molds to ensure mold availability and reliability.
Lead and support Toolmakers in troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, and maintenance activities while ensuring work is performed according to established procedures and safety requirements.
Develop, maintain, and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including maintenance schedules, tracking systems, and mold history records.
Manage mold repair priorities and resources to minimize production downtime and support manufacturing requirements.
Support new mold launches, transferred tools, engineering changes, and validation activities, ensuring molds meet production and quality requirements.
Analyze mold failures and recurring issues, lead root cause investigations, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve mold performance and reliability.
Recommend and implement mold improvements to increase tool life, improve product quality, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance process performance.
Manage mold spare parts inventory, establish critical spare requirements, and ensure availability of components necessary to support production.
Maintain technical documentation, including maintenance records, mold histories, repair reports, PM checklists, and engineering changes.
Coordinate activities with Production, Process Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, suppliers, and external tooling vendors to support business objectives and customer requirements.
Monitor tooling-related KPIs, including mold downtime, PM compliance, mold reliability, repair costs, and project completion status; prepare management reports as required.
Promote compliance with Safety, Environmental, Quality, IATF 16949, and company policies, while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient tooling department.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
Intermediate English.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Fluent English communication skills (written and verbal).
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in injection molding tooling, mold maintenance, or tooling operations, preferably within the automotive industry.
Experience leading technical personnel and coordinating tooling maintenance activities.
Experience in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for injection molds.
Experience supporting mold transfers, new tool launches, engineering changes, and validation activities.
Experience in troubleshooting mold-related injection issues and implementing corrective actions.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including production, quality, engineering, maintenance, and management.
Ability to communicate technical issues and project status clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Strong report writing, presentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to lead, coach, and develop Toolmakers and technical personnel.
