Farm, a Flex company with over 50 years of experience in providing award-winning development services for medical, life sciences, and consumer healthcare sectors, is seeking a Principal Human Factors Engineer based in Hollis, New Hampshire. The Principal Human Factors Engineer will be directly involved with the design, development, and execution of research protocols. Provides direction, supervision, and support to team members assigned to projects and is considered a technical leader

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:

• Acts as Principal Researcher and Technical Lead on client programs. Is responsible for deliverables, budgets, schedules, and activities.
• Conceptualizes full HFE programs for clients, developing research strategies and steering program direction. Advises clients on best practices in HFE, acting as expert in the HFE domain.
• Promotes the continuous improvement of the department and its staff by maintaining an awareness of and promoting state-of-the-art research techniques, methods, standards, and systems.
• Undertakes user research, such as ethnography in healthcare settings, focus groups, preference tests, and usability tests (both formative and summative). Develops research materials, such as protocols, scripts, and data collection instruments. Analyzes research data and produces deliverables suitable for HF/UE files.
• Implements a variety of user-centered design methods, such as workflow analysis and personas. Optimizes user interface design by integrating usability and ergonomics.
• Works on interdisciplinary teams with designers and engineers to analyze and evaluate data, conduct HF evaluations, and generate concepts, product specifications, and usability goals.
• Utilizes and further develops state-of-the-art protocols, standards, systems, and research techniques.
• Manages outside suppliers for participant recruiting and research facilities, language translation, etc.
• Authors documentation compliant to relevant standards for client medical device development programs.
• Provides accurate, well-defined, and articulate verbal and written presentations to clients.
• Participates in the interview process for new hires and endorses selections.
• Provides input, as requested, for the 360-feedback performance review process.
• Has knowledge of, and is compliant with, the Farm Quality Management System. Implements Farm's procedures and associated templates for Human Factors and Usability Engineering.
• Helps develop the HFE skills of junior members of the team, supporting training needs.
• Interacts with the design and engineering disciplines to develop good processes, close working relationships, and successful products.
• Has frequent and direct contact with clients regarding deliverables and general project communications to maintain and improve client goodwill and to ensure client satisfaction. Does not alter client commitments without approval from the program manager.
• Will make sure the program manager is aware of these interactions.
• Supports business development efforts by leading prospect meetings and sales presentations, authoring proposals and presenting academic topics to relevant HFE conferences.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in human factors, usability, engineering psychology, and/or research from an accredited school and
•  8+ years of work experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 5 years of medical devices or regulated industry experience
• Sufficient maturity to interact with Project Managers in a cooperative and productive manner with little supervision from the Senior Director of Human Factors Engineering.
• Expertise in a range of user-centered design methods.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Project management experience.
