Director of Student Life / Special Education Lead Teacher:
Fusion Academy Princeton is seeking a Special Education-certified teacher to fulfill the Director of Student Life role on campus. This is an amazing opportunity to directly support students in an innovative and vibrant school environment. Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
Position:
The Director of Student Life and Special Education Lead Teacher position ensures our students receive individualized academic, social and emotional support throughout their time at Fusion Academy. They are responsible for creating and facilitating an engaged campus community that provides personalized mentoring and appropriate academic support and accommodation. They manage a team of Homework Café teachers to support various initiatives and is responsible for the oversight of our comprehensive academic, social and emotional programs.
DSL Day to Day responsibilities:
- Oversee the Homework Café to support students with all aspects of their day to include independent work completion, organizational skills and overall executive functioning.
- Create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all students through teaching social-emotional skills.
- Facilitate student events, such as clubs, field trips, service learning, workshops, and student meetings.
- Gather and analyze information from outside professionals and collaborate with them to ensure generalization of skills.
- Support teachers in understanding various disabilities and deliver creative accommodations that meet student's needs.
- Hire and train Homework Café staff.
- Administer student assessments and surveys to allow for data-informed decision making.
- Contribute to staff development regarding student social, emotional, behavioral, and executive function support.
- Inspire staff through exemplary leadership practices grounded in academic expertise, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
- Create the Annual Student Programming Plan.
- Administer the MAP and Mindprint assessments.
- Administer the New Student Survey, Spring Student Survey, and Student Exit Survey.
- Participate in organization-wide collaboration and development.
- Support parents in getting their child appropriate services and accommodations in the community and at Fusion.
- Consulting with other teachers on campus who might need support working with a student with challenging learning issues.
- Reviewing testing and documentation from other sources to support supplementary Formal Education Plan writing (accommodations and goals.)
- Providing professional development to staff around particular diagnosis, symptoms, and interventions.
- Leading specific parent education nights.
- Supporting the Head of School with admissions questions about appropriateness of particular students for Fusion.
- Attending student team meetings and student weekly meetings where needed.
- As the Special Education Teacher; Teaching ' Maintaining a case load of students who need that specific resource.
- Other duties as assigned.
DSL Requirements:
- Certificate in Educational Therapy, Special Education, **or** similar advanced educational background in learning disabilities, ADHD, and emotional disorders is mandatory.
- Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is mandatory.
- A background in counseling or education.
- Patience and a problem-solving approach to issues.
- Strong working knowledge of special education: the IEP process, 504s, and ISPs.

- Candidate must be prepared to teach and tutor material at a high school level.
