Description

Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Manager of Slotting Optimization and direction from Engineering, perform duties to analyze and maintain slotting data for new and existing products within the assigned area(s) of a Harbor Freight Tools Distribution Center (DC). The Slotting Manager will lead a team of hourly associates who will plan and execute all required slotting moves and will work closely with DC operations and Engineering to execute and implement world class slotting conditions for the DC.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion of all daily tasks required to maintain adherence to slotting strategy        
  • Consume reports and utilize an existing suite of slotting analytic tools to determine workload         
  • Ensure process compliance to monitor and update dimensional attributes of new items upon arrival, as well as determine the correct setup for processing through the MDC (PTL/PTS, Case Pick Mods, Open/Break Case, Bulk, etc.)  
  • Lead and manage team of hourly associates to execute slotting changes    
  • Understand/consume forward-looking slotting plans to anticipate seasonal changes          
  • Generate reporting and metrics related to slotting assignments           
  • Provide site-specific insights and feedback to Process Engineer for network initiatives      
  • Identify and update inbound products with missing dimensional attributes       
  • Based on item attributes, assign SKUs to predetermined active pick locations within pick areas      
  • Audit current slotting to update and identify areas of opportunity             
  • Partner with and communicate with DC Operations and Engineering             
  • Conduct audits and identify areas of opportunity to improve processing and flow            
  • Coordinate with DC Operations to investigate systems issues in a timely manner 
  • Work with corporate teams to make necessary adjustment based on business needs 
  • Utilize a variety of programs, including Bartender, to create locations labels and signage          
  • Review item attributes to ensure safe handling within operations
  • Evaluate & recommend process changes to improve efficiencies, safety, etc.     
  • Plan, monitor, appraise and manage performance results.      
  • Identify and explain budget & service level variances, identify corrective actions.
  • Select, orient, train, coach, counsel and discipline Associates.             
  • Educate and develop Associates to increase their capabilities and job performance as well as to follow and maintain established company, federal, state and local policies and procedures.   
  • Ensure associates attend all training/cross-training on the day and time scheduled and otherwise ensure 100% compliance with equipment operator and cross-training goals.         
  • Communicate values, strategies, objectives, and assigning accountabilities.   
  • Maintain positive and productive continuity with each Associate and their work teams.   
  • Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.         
  • Enforce systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards in accordance with company regulations.         
  • Maintain and keep accurate staff attendance, vacation, personal time off, sickness, funeral, and other attendance standards.
  • Manage operation to meet the financial targets and assigned service levels assigned.     
  • Research, compile, initiate, sort and analyze production performance records and data.     
  • Ensure the work environment is maintained in a clean & safe status.        
  • Ensure associates have the proper tools to perform their duties.        
  • Ensure equipment is maintained, identify needed repairs and ensure that equipment gets repaired in a timely manner.      
  • Evaluate new equipment and techniques for process improvements.      
  • Initiate, lead and participate in special projects.   
  • Be open to new ideas and ways to achieve results.             
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn other areas of the distribution center operations.       
  • Develop managerial and leadership competencies by participating in all company-sponsored education workshops and leadership development training, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional organizations.     
  • Able to alternate schedule, including working weekends and overtime    
  • Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Education Requirements
  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred

Skills
  • Highly proficient using with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience using the Manhattan Warehouse Management System Preferred
  • Experience using Warehouse Control Systems (Intelligrated and/or Wynsoft a plus)
  • Experience working with Tableau a plus
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

    The anticipated salary range for this position is $ 73800  - $ 92300 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In
    addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 200 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
