The IPS Specialist – Technical Illustrator is responsible for logistics support activities, including developing illustrations, graphics, and videos for MIL‑STD technical manuals and related documentation. This role supports proposals, presentations, and cross‑functional needs such as editing, illustrating, quality control, and distribution. The position collaborates closely with technical writers, engineers, and subject matter experts.

Primary and Essential Duties

• Create technical illustrations adhering to MIL‑STD‑40051‑2E, MIL‑HDBK 122F, MIL‑PRF‑38807D, and MIL‑HDBK‑29612/3A
• Develop vector line art and other graphics for technical publications
• Produce perspective, isometric, orthographic, and schematic illustrations
• Convert sketches, photos, and written input into finished technical artwork
• Manipulate, edit, and format images using Adobe Illustrator
• Coordinate image content with Technical Writers
• Export graphics into required formats
• Occasionally use digital photography to document hardware
• Assist with graphic design and editing for proposals
• Engage with engineers and SMEs to understand product requirements
• Provide illustration support to multiple departments
• Uphold the organization's mission, values, and quality standards
• Support additional projects as assigned
• Ability to travel occasionally

Secondary Duties

• Participate in cross‑functional teams and work groups as needed

Years of Experience and Education
  • 3+ years of technical illustration experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree Preferred.

  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English
  • Ability to translate Engineering drawings and documents into exploded illustrations
  • Ability to use a variety of standard methods and techniques while adhering to commercial, government or internal specifications
  • Proficient in one or more of the following software: Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-E, and Arbortext Editor a plus
  • Able to work independently on a weekly basis
  • Competent technical expertise
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possesses quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to possess security clearance with appropriate level access; if required
  • Ability to design and structure instructional content aligned with military IMI standards.
  • Proficiency in video production and editing, including scripting, recording, audio cleanup, and motion graphics.
  • Experience creating multimedia assets and integrating content into eLearning tools that support SCORM/xAPI.
