Position Overview:
As a Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and compliant working environment in our high-volume fulfillment and 3PL operations. You will lead the charge in identifying risks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement in safety protocols. Your expertise in OSHA compliance and safety training will be key in fostering a culture of safety within our organization.

Work Schedule:This role primarily works during normal business hours; however, the Safety Manager supports a 24/7 operation and must maintain flexibility based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to build their weekly schedule to ensure regular touchpoints with all shifts. Weekly schedules will be reviewed and approved by the Director of Operations. This role also requires the ability to respond to emergencies or special circumstances outside of normal working hours when needed. While these situations are rare, they are an expected part of supporting a 24/7 operation.


Travel Specifics: No travel will be required in this role.


Competitive Compensation: Attractive annual salary of $87,000-$100,000 plus bonus, based on experience, skills, and education. Includes comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, sick time, and company holidays.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Risk Identification & Mitigation:
    Identify safety risks across operations and implement strategies to eliminate or mitigate them. Develop actionable recommendations and collaborate with teams to ensure the safe execution of daily operations.

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure that all policies, procedures, and safety practices comply with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements, including OSHA standards and hazmat regulations.

  • Safety Metrics & Reporting:
    Develop, publish, and maintain safety and compliance reports, tracking key metrics to monitor performance and improve safety outcomes across the business.

  • Safety Audits & Inspections:
    Conduct regular safety audits to identify potential hazards and areas of non-compliance. Ensure that corrective actions are taken in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Training & Development:
    Lead the scheduling and execution of local safety training programs, including specialized hazmat safety training. Work with teams to develop training content and materials based on best practices.

  • Hazardous Materials Expertise:
    Apply working knowledge of hazardous materials requirements to support safe and compliant site operations. Although hazardous materials are not a primary function of this operation, experience identifying, escalating, and supporting proper handling of potential hazmat concerns is preferred.

  • OSHA Compliance & Documentation:
    Oversee the interpretation and implementation of OSHA regulations, ensuring the company remains in compliance. Document safety processes, identify best practices, and contribute to the development of training programs.

  • Equipment Safety:
    Ensure safe operation of common material handling equipment such as forklifts, conveyors, balers, and scales, and implement protocols for safe usage.

  • Communication & Reporting:
    Build strong working relationships with operational leaders and cross-functional teams to support a proactive safety culture. Serve as a partner and resource to shift leaders by helping identify risks, communicate expectations, and implement practical corrective actions. This role requires the ability to influence, coach, and collaborate while reinforcing each leader’s ownership of safety within their shift.

  • Customer Service & Stakeholder Communication:
    Serve as a point of contact for safety-related inquiries from stakeholders, providing excellent customer service.



Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental health and safety (EHS), safety management, or a related field within a high-volume 3PL, distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or fulfillment environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and federal, state, and local safety compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience leading safety programs, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a culture of safety ownership and accountability in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Experience monitoring and reporting key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near misses, lost-time incidents).
  • Experience managing workers' compensation cases and return-to-work programs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train, coach, and influence leaders and associates at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain a visible, floor-focused leadership presence and proactively identify hazards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, business, or related field preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), OSHA 30, or similar credentials are preferred.
  • Experience in high-volume e-commerce or automated fulfillment environments.
  • Experience supporting startup or rapidly scaling distribution operations.
  • Experience working in a multi-client 3PL environment.
  • Hazmat experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
