Job Title: Associate Engineer Cloud Engineering

Your impact:

You will have the opportunity to join an innovative team that is responsible for transforming the customer experience by creating and bringing to market new products and services based upon globalized connectivity without boundaries.  As an associate cloud engineer, you will support the development of Intelsat's private datacenter architecture and design.

 

What you will do: 

  • Maintain existing server physical hardware including adding NIC cards, adding RAM, and cabling to top of rack switches or physical appliances.
  • Maintain host environment including upgrading host OS and ensuring software releases and associated dependencies are up to date.
  • Configure and deploy guest VMs within the cloud virtualization platform such as vSphere.
  • Configure and deploy CNFs within container orchestration platform.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of issues related to hosted VNFs and CNFs deployments.
  • Support datacenter cloud monitoring tools development 
  • Support the design and development of orchestration of cloud components.
  • Support cloud leads in development activities for private and public cloud.
  • Maintain and update relevant documentation.

 Your required experience/skills:

  • This role is subject to EAR/ITAR and candidates must be US Persons (US Citizens, Permanent Residents, Asylees, Refugees)
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or technology
  • Technical knowledge of datacenter virtualization, containers, and orchestration of VNFs/CNFs within a hybrid cloud environment that is global in scale.
  • Technical understanding of datacenter virtualization with containers, Kubernetes, microservices and cluster computing within public and private cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with the virtualization of key network functions used for Intelsat's next-gen SDN: SatComm platform, 3GPP mobile network, content delivery networks, etc.
  • Knowledge of ETSI NFV, ONF/CORD and other relevant standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to senior leadership.

It would be nice if you had: 

  • Familiarity with Network Function Virtualization and Software-Defined Network technologies: Linux, CentOS, SRIOV, DPDK, OpenStack, VMWare, KVM, OpenShift, Rancher, OVS, JSON, REST, YANG, NetConf, RestConf, OSI model, Ethernet, IP, UDP/TCP
