What are we looking for?

Pipeline Coatings/Utility Inspector (NACE or AMPP Certified) Temporary, Full Time role will consist of pipeline mainline/maintenance inspections. 

Shift/Schedule: Tentative work schedule is five 10-hour days, weekend availability may be required. Expected project duration is 6-7 weeks.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base hourly wage for this position is $55.00 - $60.00. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. 

What you'll do:

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, codes and construction schedules verifying that projects meet all applicable regulations and are built as designed.
  • Inspector reviews and monitors various pipeline construction related activities, including, but not limited to right-of-way clearing, ditch digging, stringing pipe along the right-of-way, pipe bending, pipe coating, pipe lowering/back filling and clean-up work. 
  • Monitors safety on the pipeline and reports any issues to the chief inspector / safety representative.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed by contractor personnel, tracking compliance, efficiency and safety measures.
  • The Utility Inspector's primary duty is to observe and report to client any issues with regulatory and code compliance, design standards and determining ways in which to do this using their training, expertise, judgment and experience. 
  • Validate proper ambient conditions are met during blasting / coatings operations.
  • Visually inspect pipe for noticeable defects to pipe coating.
  • Visually inspect pipe for gouges, dents, or other imperfections.
  • Verify that all pipe is "jeeped" and holidays properly repaired prior to lowering in trench.
  • Once cured, verify that all field applied pipe coating meets Company's mil thickness and manufacturer's hardness specifications.
  • Ensure testing and measuring equipment is fully calibrated per specification and has current certification

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • NACE / AMPP certification is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the utility inspection or pipeline industry
  • Must be able to walk long distances
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Must be able to stand for extended durations
  • Must be able to reach in all directions
  • Must have good visual acuity with regards to color, depth perception and field vision
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures
  • Must be alert and able to determine job related hazards and recognize when hazards change
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and clearly and professionally communicate with other team members
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required
  • Familiar with NACE code
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings
