What are we looking for?
The Senior Field Engineer – RCA/Gas Turbine Expert is responsible for being the principal investigator on projects. This position will include travel at least 75% of the time. Note: The successful candidate will be expected to travel internationally, on occasion.
Shift/Schedule: part time, on call hours, as needed
Salary & Benefits Information:
The base wage or salary range for this position is $60.00 to $ 100.00 per hr. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
What You'll Do on The Job:
- Lead engineering consulting investigations and root cause analysis. Advanced troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills.
- Responsible for providing expert technical review of new build or existing gas turbine based power projects.
- Work closely with other members of the engineering team to develop operational and maintenance procedures for safe and effective management of operating assets.
- Manage technicians to locate and correct the problem with defective equipment.
- Demonstrate good communication skills, both oral and written vertically and across the organization.
- Demonstrate ability to lead and participate in team activities resulting in high quality problem solving, root cause analysis, and damage mechanism reviews. Draw team members in on conversations and actively seek consensus on cross-functional issues.
- Engage in implementation and testing phases of combustion turbine commissioning projects.
- Site project management and scheduling.
- Functional testing of gas turbine, auxiliary, and balance of plant equipment.
- Identifying and communicating areas for process and design improvements to management.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Experience working for a major turbine manufacturer (e.g., GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, ABB, Alstom, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Toshiba, Pratt and Whitney, Rolls Royce, etc.).
- Combustion Turbine Generation process knowledge (including, BOP, HRSG, Combined Cycle).
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Experience
- Technical Consulting Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- A minimum of 15 years of experience for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or power plant/utility.
- Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
- Extensive overnight travel (at least 75%) by land and/or air to customer sites.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering license a plus
