What are we looking for?
The Staff Engineer, Electrical Safety - UL, CSA, NFPA position is responsible for providing technical expertise to personnel and operations at the local or regional level; for recommending and managing capital expenditure projects; and for assessing and developing local training. This position is the primary resource for review and approval of test procedures, methods and interpretations. This position, while having a broad general focus of products and industries, will be responsible for driving the Power Tools, Outdoor Equipment and similar products categories with emphasis on CB Certification.
Shift: 1st - 8:00am - 4:30pm
Salary & Benefits Information
The base wage or salary range for this position is $85K - $115K. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:
- Provide local management with technical assessment of engineering skills and performance levels.
- Responsible for assessing training of the technical staff and development of new training programs.
- Provide on-going support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations.
- Provide quotes for a large array of standards and complex projects and products.
- Research new standards, technologies, and trends in standards.
- Represent Intertek on technical committees, code panels and/or associations.
- Support accreditations activities such as audit follow-up and corrective actions. Investigate technical complaints.
- Provide complex sales support such as giving presentations during client visits.
- Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
- Recommend and prepare capital expenditure requests and manage capital projects.
- Mentor less senior technical staff.
- Perform other work as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent in terms of education, experience and / or training.
- 6+ years of experience in a directly related field/industry.
- Advanced experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC and CISPR.
- Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently where limited standardization exists.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
- Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.
- Excellent communication skills, in verbal, written and presentation formats.
- Ability to travel 15% is required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
- Master's degree in engineering
- 8+ years of experience in a directly related field/industry.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
