Kamehameha Schools is seeking two (2) Interns to support our statewide Natural Resources team. These positions will assist with daily administrative tasks, including data management and industry research.
Ideal candidates are available for a minimum of 10 - 20 hours a week and reside within the state of Hawaiʻi to provide support to our various locations across the Pae 'Āina, including, but not limited to: Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, East Hawaiʻi Island, or Keauhou. Ideal candidates are also proficient in Microsoft Office and Google, have a background in Native Biodiversity, and/or possess or are pursuing a Bachelor's degree in: Hawaiian studies, Ecology, Botany, Biology, Zoology, Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Forestry, Planning, Business, or a directly related field.
Familiarity with Hawaiʻi's natural and cultural resources, landscapes, stewardship efforts, geography, Native Hawaiian cultural practices and language, and a working knowledge of ArcGIS are preferred.
These are temporary, one-year hybrid positions. Work-from-home flexibility may be provided, but is subject to approval. Ideal candidates are available for a minimum of 10 - 20 hours a week.
Applicants must be either current students or recent graduates within one year of their graduation date.
Job SummaryInterns are responsible for adhering to the program parameters of an internship plan for the assigned department(s). Such a program plan is intended to give exposure to the intern of key processes and workflows of the assigned department(s) and to help the intern gain real-world knowledge of business operations.
Essential Responsibilities- Responsible for adhering to intern program guidelines in the department(s) assigned. Must complete a variety of tasks designed to give maximum exposure to work processes. Position expected to learn new and improve existing skillsets and apply them to practical situations at Kamehameha Schools.
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Enrolled in a post-secondary education program, or have graduated within the previous year.
- Proficient in the use of the PC/Mac and standard office software.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
