Kamehameha Schools is hiring for a Strategy Consultant I to support our Sustainable Industry Development division. This position will function similarly to an Investment Analyst by working with KS' Hawaii based investments that support KS' land portfolio across its agriculture and conservation lands.
This role is a great opportunity for a recent graduate that would like to gain hands-on experience meeting with start-ups and being a key team member on investment due diligence, financial analysis, and investment monitoring & reporting. Graduates with a BA, MA/MBA in Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting are encouraged to apply.
Job Summary
Proactively contributes and adds value to support organizational goals and strategies through the development/planning, implementation, monitoring and communications of enterprise-level strategy and key initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
Enterprise-level Strategy Development and Implementation
- Proactively supports and/or manages discreet portions of enterprise-level strategy development and planning.
- Strategic Alignment – Contributes to the development and implementation of KS strategies across multiple business lines (Education, Community Engagement & Support) to ensure the alignment of group/divisional activities with the organization's mission, vision and enterprise-level goals & strategies
- Supports design, selection, management and implementation of KS' enterprise portfolio
- Gathers, interprets, evaluates data, and develops integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making.
- Using project management, analysis and business process skills plan and deliver on critical strategic initiatives that have enterprise implications with high quality results and within set parameters.
- Change Management - Supports unit leadership and teams through changes associated with specific organizational initiatives and projects. Adapts well to change and ambiguity and adjusts work as appropriate
- Innovation – Supports design and facilitation of innovative frameworks, approaches and models to assess organization opportunities for transformational change.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Supports short and long range system-wide educational and community engagement planning efforts via facilitation of discussion, statistical, organizational and/or program analyses.
- Supports strategy-level performance measurement, evaluation, monitoring and reporting to update and inform leadership on organization performance, work progress and active/emerging issues or initiatives.
Communications and Collaborations
- Effective listener who can cultivate clear, consistent and open channels of communication and information sharing within S&I and between all organization levels (CEO, Vice Presidents, inter-KS groups and staff).
- Works towards collaborative cross-functional teaming and are responsive and flexible to the variety of KS needs (organization, community, function).
- Sought out to participate on cross-functional project teams and initiatives and demonstrates ability to diffuse conflict and build consensus to achieved shared outcomes.
Leadership and Management
- Serves as a leader by example for peers and others by proactively volunteering and showing initiative in informal and formal settings.
- Able to secure, coordinate, manage and supervise internal and external (contractor) resources to achieve initiative/project objectives.
- Provides clear direction and expectations and timely feedback for team members on projects where you are lead.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed.
- Bachelor's Degree in business, education, social science or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience and progressive responsibility in management consulting, systems integration or related field, including a minimum of 2 years of Team Lead, Functional Lead, or similar experience.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and handle complex, multiple, simultaneous projects and meet established timelines and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to understand processes and identify common cause/effect impacting a process and implement process improvements
- Ability to analyze and conceptualize, and to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and with highly confidential information.
- Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, management and supervision skills to work effectively with management and staff at various levels in the organization as part of a project team.
- Ability to be flexible, learn new systems and processes as required
- Strong working knowledge of and experience in automating office processes using standard office desktop applications
- Strong emotional quotient and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think systemically and critically
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an indigenous, education or nonprofit setting
- Knowledge of Hawaiian culture, history and/or language.
- Licenses and/or certifications in respective fields of related work (e.g. PMP, Six Sigma, IIBA, or ASQ certification)
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
